NZA Organizes Clean Water Aid for Hurricane-Torn Haiti

LES ANGLAIS, HAITI, November 8, 2016 – In the wake of Hurricane Matthew’s destruction in Haiti, Net-Zero Advisors (NZA), a group of concerned volunteers and philanthropists located throughout the United States, are making strides toward securing clean water and power for Les Anglais, Haiti to contribute to cholera relief efforts.

NZA is a non-profit organization partnering with Earth Spark International (ESI) on the development of the Les Anglais, Haiti Microgrid, the first system of its kind. Located in one of the hardest-hit areas in Haiti, the microgrid is one of the only means of power in the region and will be the source of another lifesaving capability: water purification.

The challenge: a clear logistical route into the hurricane-torn Les Anglais region. With bridges and communications down in the devastated region, it is a struggle to coordinate logistical efforts to and within the region. Working with the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), NZA has identified potential logistical pathways into the country.

In coordination with Cascade Designs, NZA has received a pledge of 200,000 Aquatic water purification tablets. This generous donation will provide access to a critically needed resource in the short term until a more permanent solution can be developed.

In the long term, NZA seeks to provide a self-sustaining solar powered water filtration capability to address the ongoing logistical clean water concern. The reverse osmosis water filtration system could provide water for approximately 150 to 200 people per day, which, though significant, ultimately reflects only a fraction of the capacity that Les Anglais requires as a whole.

NZA is continuing its efforts in investigating ways to provide water purification systems necessary to meet local demand. If you would like to learn more or donate to the cause please visit:  http://www.earthsparkinternational.org/donate.html
